I'm trying to understand the available modules and had a couple questions. First some background and how we do it now. We get the order, create a Sales Order and create an invoice for 50% of the sales order. When the project is completed, we bill the remaining 50%. In our situation, can the Projects module replace the "Sales Order" functionality we're used to?
I'm also having trouble differentiating between the proposal module and estimate module. Aren't they same same thing (a proposal is an estimate, isn't it?).
Thanks,
Derek
Unfortunately, the Projects app doesn't replace the Sales Order functionality. As for the second one, yes, both quotes and proposals are formal offers to a client. However:
1) A quote (estimate) is a reply to a request for product, price, and availability. Generally speaking, the client knows what they want and are looking for specific information on targeted items.
2) A proposal is a reply to a request for a solution or requirement. The client is usually unsure of what they want or are open and looking at options to address their requirements.
That's why you design the quote as itemized and proposal in freestyle.

Thank you for your quick response. I'm not looking to replace the sales orders (would be nice, but not necessary). It looks like in projects I can create invoices against the project (or at least attach them to the project). Is it possible to see how much is unbilled in a project vs what has been invoiced?
I would just buy it and try it, but don't see a return/trial policy so figured there wasn't one.
Thanks,
Derek
Unfortunately, the Projects app doesn't show the unbilled amount.
