Multiple Income Categories per Invoice

I would like to have invoices that could have the income split across multiple categories. What I am trying to accomplish is to track my revenue by service and product type. For example, if a customer orders 2 types of products and a service, I would like to create 1 invoice but be able to see on my Profit & Loss Report the income split by type. (see example below)

Profit & Loss for May
Income
Product Type Hardware $500
Product Type Software $375
Service Installation $ 75

You can use the Double-Entry app for such a purpose:

It allows you to assign each invoice line/item to a separate category/chart of account.

Does the 'Double-Entry App' also provide this ability on the expenditure side? (Many of my purchases ('bills') need their total amount to be divided into a number of categories (EG: Cost of sales / Equipment purchase / Drawings).
If so, is it possible to use this feature of the 'Double Entry App' without actually having to do double entry accounting (I want to do simple books, but with multiple expense categories per 'bill')?
