I’m in trial mode and recurring doesn’t show up, i’ve tried everything and there is no recurring app. AI suggested a link that worked. We are an internet service provider, we have installations we do, and monthly recurring billings. We currently use that garbage quickbooks. When we sign a customer up we create an invoice, and memorize it. We put them in groups, 1st, 5th, visa etc. We can also manually run. We have to have this feature. What am I missing? I would like to have several templates, like basic internet, premium internet plus router rental, etc etc. We also want to do recurring merchant payments and I don’t see as yet that has been completed. Obviously currently we are using intuits merchant service. We need to move asap. Thoughts?
Hi Ray,
Recurring is built into Akaunting — there is no separate "Recurring" app to
install, which is probably what you were looking for.
How it works:
1. Go to Sales > Invoices > New Invoice. Scroll down to the "Schedule"
section on the invoice form and set Frequency (daily/weekly/monthly/
yearly/custom), Start date, and a limit (never / after X times / by date).
Saving it creates a recurring template, not a one-off invoice.
2. The generated templates are listed under Sales > Recurring Invoices (and
Purchases > Recurring Bills, Banking > Recurring Transactions). From there
you can edit, end, or duplicate them.
3. Your "memorized invoice per customer plan" workflow maps directly: create
one recurring invoice per customer with the right start day (1st, 5th,
etc.) and frequency. To reuse a plan like "Basic Internet" or "Premium +
Router", set them up as Items (Sales > Items) with fixed prices, then
duplicating an existing recurring invoice for a new customer takes a few
seconds.
Two things to know:
- Self-hosted installs need the cron job configured, otherwise recurring
invoices are never generated:
* * * * * php /path/to/akaunting/artisan schedule:run >> /dev/null 2>&1
On Cloud this runs automatically.
- Automatic recurring card charges (stored card charged without customer
action) are not available yet. The recurring invoice is generated and sent
automatically, and the customer pays through the portal with the payment
gateway apps (Stripe, PayPal, etc.).
That last point is the one to weigh before migrating off Intuit — everything
else in your workflow is supported today.
