Invoice item name without creating item

When creating an invoice it's required to add items previously created on the app, but i don't sell products, I just need to add some random titles just for reference to some project and task. Please, let us create Invoices without creating Items.

Item is required but in the next version, you'll be able to have a dummy item and enter a different description for each invoice item, in free style.

This is needed because I'm currently having 80 items categories and most are duplicate titles but the descriptions are different and it will get nasty as time goes. We should be able to create an item category and description can be changed on the invoice.

I looked in the code and database and the item title is already recorded, so it only needs to stop requiring the item and let the user decide if associate with an item or just write a name. The ideia to create a dummy item appears more complex and I don't see any problem for reports to show an item titles without any items related.

I would imagine the right logic to use would be to display the description already associated with an item and then allow the user to overwrite that description at the time of creating/editing the invoice. That way you still have an association with a specific "item" (e.g., "Labour") but the details could be recorded differntly on each individual invoice. I'm heartened to hear this might be included in the next release as it's a show stopped for me at the moment. I can't use for invoicing because there is not this ability, nor the ability to cutomise the invoice layout itself (yes, I have the app for print customisation but editing the layout of the invoice normally is still required).

I agree with John that's what Zoho and others allow. For example if you have a consulting service item with description varies each month. You just add the item and edit in on the fly in invoice.

How far are we with this feature. I understand it was present in the early version but someone somehow decided to remove it in subsequent versions which I don't understand why they would do such a thing.

I agree with John and Abdul. The description of an item need to be "flexible" within an invoice. Its for to complicated and time consuming to use always an dummy item or add a new item.
